Sabah non-government organisation not afraid to take a stand against those who disrupt Sabah’s multiracial and cultural society.
Angkatan Perubahan Sabah (APS) vice president Paul Kadau has lodge a police report against Wahyu Ilahi Management (WIM) today (7th January 2019). WIM was among the group who filed a complaint against the celebration of Christmas and New Years in Tawau.
“We want to know what they meant by ‘objecting vehemently. Does it mean no Christmas celebrations in coming years?” he was reported to have said to the media at the city police headquarters in Karamunsing.
“Their statement can trigger racial and religious tension in Sabah and Malaysia. I ask the police to investigate the person — Mohd Ilyas Rahim Rugain — who lodged the report,” he was quoted by The Malay Mail.
According to reports, Kadau had alleged that WIM is not registered with the Registrar of Societies (RoS) and urged action to be taken against them. He is “giving” WIM to retract their report to the police and issue an open apology, in which failing to do so, he would take legal action against them.
APS has taken it to heart when statements such as WIM’s about celebrations should not be held in open areas and called it unacceptable in multiracial and cultural society like Sabah.
“There are groups from Malaya that come here to poison the unity among Sabahans. The government should execute its duties to stem such extremist groups before such incidents spread to other districts.
“We want to live in peace and harmony, but this group has disappointed us with such provocations,” he said.
