Tony Pua Wee Kiam from the Ministry of Finance announced to the public to assure them that all of the prominent financial scandals that happened during the Barisan National (BN) led Government reign has been exposed. Tony Pua said that the government can shift their focus on steering Malaysia into the right path and let the relevant department handle the relevant task.
Tony Pua who was assigned as special officer by the Minister of Finance Lim Guan Eng. He was the former Malaysian CEO of Cyber Village Sdn Bhd, a SESDAQ listed company in 2007. In 2008, he resigned from Cyber Village as the CEO to join the Democratic Action Party (DAP). In the same year, Tony Pua defeated Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Women, Family & Community Affairs, and Deputy Chief of the Malaysian Chinese Association, to become a Parliament Member representing Petaling Jaya Utara.
Fast forwarded to the General Elections in 2018, Tony Pua successfully retained his parliamentary seat representing Petaling Jaya Utara with majority of 106,903. Setting a Malaysian History for largest majority in the process.
Tony Pua said that he hopes that he is not wrong in his statement but is extremely pleased that all major scandals are exposed to the public. He also explained that the new (Pakatan Harapan led) Government does not tolerate cronyism and government contracts will now be awarded to companies that possesses the best abilities which will benefit the economy as it promotes friendly competition.
He is also confident that Malaysia can now grow even further as a country. He pointed out that the previous (Barisan National led) government, albeit corrupted and practices kleptocracy, can still create an economic growth of 5.6%. With a clean and transparent government, Malaysia can grow to a greater extent.
