A report stated that three Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) or Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) continued to escort and protect the former defense minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein even after the 14th General Elections on 9th of May 2018. Hishammuddin Hussein, who is also the cousin of former Malaysian Prime Minister and former Finance Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s cousin, was replaced by Pakatan Harapan’s Mat Sabu as the Minister of Defense.
The current Minister of Defense Mat Sabu has issued a statement regarding the issue. He said that the Defense Department has already launched an investigation over the report. The Defense Department will take the necessary actions to assure that no parties will be able to abuse the usage of the Malaysian Armed Forces. He has also assured the public that necessary disciplinary actions will be taken to if any of the officers have found to have broken the rules or orders that are in place.
The sources showed that Hishammuddin Hussein was photographed with two navy special operations forces or the Pasukan Khas Laut (PASKAL) officers and a commando. The two navy special operation forces officers are reported to be on duty for the Malaysian Armed Forces until the year 2020 and 2021. The commando officer’s details are still unknown.
The trio has been summoned back to the Malaysian Armed Forces and will begin their duties for the Malaysian Armed Forces. Their duties to serve under Hishammuddin Hussein were supposed to cease after 9th of May 2018, which is after the 14th General Election.
Hishammuddin Hussein said that the trio was working for him on a temporary basis.
Hishammuddin Hussein has also revealed that he has offered them to work for him, but this will require the trio to resign from the Malaysian Armed Forces, if they were to accept Hishammuddin Hussein’s employment offer.
