Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad has pleaded Malaysian that are residing in other countries to come home. He said that Malaysia are in need of their assistant and returning back home will make Malaysia strong again.
The Malaysia Prime Minister added that the wages earned overseas are higher than wages in Malaysia but, the cost of living overseas compared to Malaysia are high as well. He said “if you don’t believe me, buy a can of drink in Malaysia and for the same money try buying it in London.”
He reminded the Malaysians residing overseas that they grew up in this country and they are given the opportunity to study because they grew up in Malaysia. He urged over 500 Malaysians at a dinner event held in China during his visit. He said “It is time to pay back”.
Malaysia was once known as the “Tiger of Asia” and the government’s policies and strategies could have made Malaysia a developed nation by the year 2020. He conceded that the 2020 vision will not be possible anymore as the previous (Barisan National led) government had done an atrocious job in governing the country. The spread in corruption is wide and the debt level is excessive. He anticipated that Malaysia will become a developed nation only after the year 2025. Therefore, Malaysia requires the assistance of every Malaysian who are now working or studying overseas.
He ensured that his new (Pakatan Harapan) government will employ newer machineries and strategies to achieve the vision 2025 and reclaim the title of “Tiger of Asia”. But it will only be achievable if Malaysians return home.
An approximate of 14,000 Malaysians are residing in China and 2,000 Malaysians are living in Beijing. The Malaysians residing in China are mostly businessmen, professional figures and students.
